CSL1, CSL2 Firewall Inspection
CSL1 Firewall Inspection
If a customer receives non-conforming components in large quantities or repeatedly from a supplier, the supplier may be escalated to CSL1 (Controlled Shipping Level 1). In this case, the manufacturer must immediately organize an external inspection process, typically upon customer request, to prevent further delivery of defective components. This level involves 100% customer-focused inspection conducted after and independently of the production line's final inspection. It applies a stricter set of criteria.
CSL2 Firewall Inspection
CSL2 is a higher level of supplier escalation. At this stage, the customer mandates 100% inspection of the products based on predefined criteria. Inspected products are specially marked, and both the manufacturer and customer are informed about the results. This process can include engineering support to help the supplier identify and address the root causes of manufacturing issues.
